15/12/10 MPBA Membership Fees for 2011

Because of their financial situation MPBA have unexpectedly increased membership fees by £1 across the board. They only deemed it necessary to inform affiliated clubs through Decembers Propwash which we received on 14 December. Unfortunately it will be necessary for all Electra members applying for MPBA membership through the club to include an extra £1. Obviously membership application forms issued at our AGM do not have these changes but we have updated the forms on the website and will include it with the next News Letter.

Change of Date and Venue... This update from your SAWS officer Martin Harvey There is weed on the lake at Burton-on Trent again this year, but we have managed to get the use of a lake in Leicester which is used by King Lear MBC. The lake is only available on Sundays so we are limited to 31st October. The lake is in the Watermead Country Park and full information will be made available shortly. In the meantime if you Google post code LE7 1PD you will get the Watermead Business Park which is opposite the leisure park. There is a link to Google maps below. I am trying to find out which lake is the one we will be using. Map

16/02/10 Pre-season Registration - a message from your Regatta Records Officer and Membership Secretary.

Hi racers here is my usual appeal for registration prior to our first meeting. Get your race numbers and frequencies now by ringing me (Dave Parker on 0118 9700162) any time. Racers who finished in positions 1 to 6 in the Club Championship last season will be allocated race numbers 1 to 6. Numbers 7 upwards will be allocated on a first come first served basis when you register. Frequencies will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Once you have registered if you want to check race numbers, frequencies, or see who is racing what, have a look at the entries page.

12/11/09 UK Nationals 2010 - Date Confirmed

As some of you will already know NAVIGA has, for the first time orgasnised the Worlds for September. Their dates for 2010 are far too close to the planned dates for the Nationals so we have had to change the dates so the UK Team can go to the Worlds. The 2010 UK Nationals will therefore be held, followong a committee decision, on Saturday and Sunday 24th and 25th July (same weekend as this year) with the usual practice available from Friday noon on 23rd. Sorry for the inconvenience. The booking in system is already on line so any of you early birds can get booked in whenever you like.

12/11/09 Speed Records Day 2010 - Date Confirmed

I have heard from Dave Harvey, your SAWs Officer who confirms that the 2010 SAWs event will be held on Saturday and Sunday 30th and 31st October 2010 at Branston Water, Burton-on-Trent. These dates have been confirmed with the local club.

16/10/09 Speed Records Day - Cancelled

The 2009 event at Branston Water, Burton-Upon-Trent scheduled for Saturday and Sunday 17/18th October 2009 has sadly been cancelled due to excessive weed on the pond. An alternative date (31st Oct/1st Nov) was proposed but it clashed with the 6th round of the NADS championship which had been postponed also due to weed problems.

09/10/09 Speed Records Day - Possible new date

The speed records day at Branston Water Park, Burton on Trent, may be back on. Burton club have been in contact with David harvey offering a revised date for the speed records event that was cancelled. It would be subject to the state of the lake and interest in running it this year. The suggested date is 31st October-1st November. One problem is of course the shorter days...

The booking in system for this years UK Nationals on the new MPBA fast electric website is now live, you can find it here http://www.mpba-fes.org.uk/ The procedure to book in is... Step 1. Check classes and pick which ones you wish to enter. Step 2. Click on the appropriate link to view current entries. Step 3. check for available frequencies. Step 4. Send e-mail with details to MPBA Nationals Officer. NB. Your entry must contain, name, valid MPBA number, class and frequency choice . Step 5. Await confirmation e-mail. NB. Race numbers will be notified at a later date. Step 6. Send appropriate entry fee to MPBA F/E Treasurer before 15th July 2009. NB. 08/04/09 Electra Practice Session - Video Uploaded

We had a resonable turnout for the test session at Stevenage on 29/03/09, conditions were good, if not a little cold. We was a successful day, there were boats on the water most of the time, Dave and Trevor even managed a Mini Mono race. I have uploaded a few video clips to my Youtube site

17/03/09 Electra Practice Session - Re-scheduled for Sunday 29th March

We have decided to postpone the Electra practice session scheduled for Sunday 22nd March at Fairlands Valley Stevenage, for one week, it will be on Sunday 29th March instead, this change will allow a few more people to attend. Other info is the same as before ie. Buoys can be set out if required. In the morning the Stevenage club members will be running ( up to 12:00 hrs). You will be welcome to join in but you will have to mix with IC boats. In the morning you will be able to bring your car to the waterside for unloading (don't forget to use your hazard lights). When the Stevenage Club members have left it will be possible to park your cars by the lake. We need to be clear of the lake by 5:00pm. We have hit one snag. At the moment there is considerable civil engineering work going on in the Park. Amongst the other consequences this puts more pressure on usage on the model boat lake. The official position of the park authority is that other than the formal events e.g. the Electra Regatta in May, they will not allow any other booking of the lake. So the position is that although the lake is available to us we could be cancelled at very short notice. We will only know for certain that we have the lake on the preceding Friday. So we will send out a confirmation email on Saturday. If there is a cancellation we will follow this up by a phone call. It is important that you if let us know if you may be coming and ensure we have your contact details. We don't want anyone travelling to a postponed event.

15/03/09 Rules Clarification

Mini Oval classes, mini mono and mini hydro, have no mill time, as per the yearbook this website was incorrectly showing 10sec mill time, its fixed now, showing no mill time for these classes.
